a few changes

Things will very likely break around these parts the next coupla days as I do a little bit of house cleaning. Should be a little bit nicer once everything is done. I’d really like to get the wiki area more involved in the main part of the site. It’s so much easier for me to write in a wiki page rather than in the wordpress interface. The time between thought and writing is much lower with a wiki. I’m thinking it might be interesting to use the wiki for comments as well, I have a couple of ideas on how that might work. The only question is… will it get spammed… will I even care…

I think the veryplaintxt(link seems to be dead at the moment) theme is gonna be a keeper. Just a few changes to the header, footer, and link colors.

Update: link is working now – thanks for letting me know Scott

blender, core image fun house, and elephants dream

Just playing around with the contents of the elephants dream dvd and a new app I just found called core image fun house. Lots of fun little filters and such to play with using Apple’s core image tech.

A silly little thing until I’ve had more time to explore.

Elephants Dream review

Finally got my copy of the Elephants Dream dvd set the other day. It’s amazing what they were able to create in such a short amount of time, especially considering that many of the tools and techniques they used in blender did not exist when the project was started. The improvements and advances made to blender is the big win here.

The film itself is visually and acoustically beautiful. I loved the style that was presented. The story is a bit ambiguous and open to much interpretation, which is definitely a good thing, but perhaps it was a bit ambitious for an 11 minute short movie.

I have learned a lot just by spending a few minutes looking through all of the provided blend files. Much time will be wasted playing with and discovering how this film was made. I can’t wait until the first remix or mashup is posted on blender artists.
